Maths

At Camelot, we follow the programmes of study as outlined in the National Curriculum (2014). The National Curriculum for mathematics aims to ensure that all pupils:

• become fluent in the fundamentals of mathematics.

• reason mathematically by following a line of enquiry, conjecturing relationships and generalisations, and developing an argument, justification or proof using mathematical language.

 • can solve problems by applying their mathematics to a variety of routine and non-routine problems.

In order to ensure our children become confident mathematicians, we use the White Rose Maths scheme of work which focuses on building a whole new culture of deep understanding, confidence and competence in Maths – a culture that produces strong, secure learning and real progress.

Find out more at the White Rose Maths website.

We are also a proud member of Maths Hub London South East+, ensuring we are offering the best possible experience of Maths to all our learners.

Robust Maths

At Camelot, we believe that the teaching of arithmetical proficiency (number bonds and times tables) is essential to enabling children to become confident mathematicians. As such, we teach Robust Maths daily in order to build children's automatic recall of their number bonds and times tables.

See below for our Robust Maths termly plan and some guidance from Southwark about how to support your child with Maths at home.
